blues bites

— Ed Ivey

JSP Records does it again with a well-polished, suave release by Johnny Rawls called Louisiana Woman (JSP CD-286). Noted producer Rawls wraps up a big slab of blues and funked-up jams. The horn section jams, and Rawls’ midtenor voice suits both slow blues and groovin’ dance tunes. Best cut: “I Got Soul,” right out of the Blues Brother manual.
