The Boston Beat - March, 2001
By Greg Sarni

FRESH FROM THE MAILBOX

Here are some of the latest new releases we feel are worth your attention:

Johnny Rawls "Put Your Trust in Me" on JSP
Rawls cut his teeth playing guitar with Soul greats like Little Johnnie Taylor, Z.Z. Hill and O.V. Wright. This disc sees him performing 10 original Soul and Blues numbers. Backed by Connecticut's Nutmeg Horns, with guest spots by daughter Destini Rawls, Eddie Kirkland and Phil Guy, there is plenty of talent to go around on this one. Also on the session is Bruce Bears, keyboardist with the Toni Lynn Washington Band. Great stuff.
