The short listPOP MUSIC "My style is between gospel, blues and good hard soul music," says well-traveled guitarist and singer Johnny Rawls, who paid his dues in the 1970s and '80s backing O.V. Wright and Little Johnny Taylor. Raised in Mississippi but based in Milwaukee, Rawls is a music nomad who spends roughly 300 nights a year onstage, and serves as a producer, songwriter, solo artist and talent scout for the fine London label JSP Records.
